ఐక్యరాజ్యసమితి శాంతి పరిరక్షకుల అంతర్జాతీయ దినోత్సవం

ప్రపంచవ్యాప్తంగా అనేక ప్రాంతాల్లో చోటు చేసుకుంటున్న సంఘర్షణలు, దేశాల మధ్య యుద్ధాల వల్ల పౌరుల ప్రాథమిక హక్కులకు, శాంతి భద్రతలకు ముప్పు వాటిల్లుతోంది. ఘర్షణల కారణంగా అతలాకుతలమైన దేశాల్లో శాశ్వత శాంతి పరిస్థితుల కల్పనలో ఐక్యరాజ్యసమితి శాంతి పరిరక్షక దళం కృషికి గుర్తుగా ఏటా మే 29న ‘ఐక్యరాజ్యసమితి శాంతి పరిరక్షకుల అంతర్జాతీయ దినోత్సవం’ (International Day of UN Peacekeepers) నిర్వహిస్తారు. యుద్ధ వాతావరణం ఉన్న ప్రాంతాల్లో శాంతిని నెలకొల్పడానికి, కొనసాగించడానికి ఐక్యరాజ్యసమితి శాంతి పరిరక్షకులు చేసే అవిశ్రాంత కృషిని గుర్తించడంతోపాటు వారికి మద్దతు తెలపడం ఈ రోజు ముఖ్య ఉద్దేశం. 

ఐక్యరాజ్యసమితి శాంతి పరిరక్షణ అంటే?

• ప్రపంచవ్యాప్తంగా శాంతి, భద్రతలను కాపాడేందుకు ఐక్యరాజ్యసమితి ఉపయోగించే ఒక యంత్రాంగమే ఐక్యరాజ్యసమితి శాంతి పరిరక్షణ. ఇది ప్రధానంగా కాల్పుల విరమణలు, శాంతి ఒప్పందాలు, శాశ్వత శాంతికి మద్దతు ఇచ్చేందుకు ఘర్షణ ప్రాంతాలకు తన సిబ్బందిని (సైనికులు, పోలీసులు) పంపుతుంది. హింససు రూపుమాపి, స్థిరత్వాన్ని ప్రోత్సహించడానికి ఇది ఒక కీలకమైన సాధనం. అలాగే, యుద్ధ నివారణ, శాంతి నిర్మాణం లాంటి ఐక్యరాజ్యసమితి ప్రయత్నాల్లో భాగంగా పనిచేస్తుంది.
• దేశాల మధ్య సంఘర్షణలు తొలగించి, శాంతిని నెలకొల్పడంలో సాయం చేసేందుకు 1948లో మొదటి ఐక్యరాజ్యసమితి శాంతి పరిరక్షక మిషన్‌ ప్రారంభమైంది. ఇందులో బ్లూ హెల్మెట్స్‌ అని పిలిచే శాంతి పరిరక్షకులు ఉంటారు. వీరంతా ఐక్యరాజ్యసమితి జెండా కింద పనిచేసే వివిధ దేశాలకు చెందిన సైనికులు, పోలీసులు, నిపుణులు. వీరు కాల్పుల విరమణలను పర్యవేక్షిస్తారు, ప్రజలను రక్షిస్తారు, ప్రజాస్వామ్య పునరుద్ధరణకు మద్దతు ఇస్తారు.

శాంతి పరిరక్షక సిబ్బంది

• ఐక్యరాజ్యసమితికి శాశ్వత సైన్యం లేదు. సభ్యదేశాలు స్వచ్ఛందంగా దీనికి సైనిక, పోలీస్‌ బలగాలను అందిస్తాయి. యూఎన్‌ఓతో ఆయా దేశాలకు ఉన్న ఒప్పందాలు, వ్యక్తిగత ప్రతిభ, నిర్దిష్ట కార్యాచరణ అవసరాలకు అనుగుణంగా సిబ్బంది ఎంపిక ఉంటుంది.  
• 2026 నాటికి యూఎన్‌ శాంతి పరిరక్షణకు అతిపెద్ద సహకారం అందిస్తోన్న ఆరు దేశాలు: నేపాల్, రువాండా, బంగ్లాదేశ్, భారత్, ఇండోనేసియా, పాకిస్థాన్‌.
